first days
After my arrival in Cairo in tried to get my left parts of my mind also here. But this will take more time as I thought, as I had to detect. But there were enough other things to do to stay quite busy. After I spent the first seven days in a hotel (a really good hotel… I will miss it, especially the breakfast) I now had to move. First I had to find an appartment or something similar. An advantage was, that I met another guy from the GUC in the hotel. He is from Jordan. I mention this because it appeared very useful to have a natural born arab at ones side…
The appartment was quick found and so we moved. Me and my big yellow suitcase. The new home was close to the university but in the middle of nowhere. The rent was quite low and we had no opportunity to spent our money. And of course it was kind of spiritual… this kind of a monks live. So, hopefully, I will be enlightend and rich after a while. Or I will become insane.

getting started…
Hello friends… since the 15th of September I am in Egypt, working at the German University Cairo. Everything went very fast. From the first offering to go there until the decision and the final movement. Everything in only 5 weeks. And because we felt bored, we got married during this time, too. Because the time was too short to terminate all our duties in Germany in time I am here and my beloved wife is still in Germany. This makes it a bit tougher. Due to this fact I live here like a monk, in the middle of the desert but nearby the university. This means… go to work, eat, think, sleep… all days but Friday and Saturday. These are my free days where I am going to explore the country, its people and the culture. And this may be the place I want to tell the storys about what I saw…
