We can´t know what´s next. We did not know what will come. We will never know.
Things just happen without a why and when. Magic is a possible way to deal with that. The better way is, just to realize it: Shit happens. For no reason. All the time.
The things that just happen without a why and when could be magic in itself because maybe those things are good things for a change, and so that sort of “hope” – if I may call it that- is what makes this very true and realistic realization you mentioned above, somewhat tolerable.
